Pentax Announces K100D Super: Super Cheap and Super Good D-SLR

Following up on last year’s generally well received K100D DSLR, the company announced it′ll be shipping a new version: the K100D Super. A lot of the specs look the same, but this version will have a proprietary feature called Dust Removal (DR) system, which up until now has been available only on the high-end K10D. Coupled with a filter that keeps dust from hitting the CCD sensor, the DR system also literally shakes the camera’s CCD sensor periodically, to remove any dust buildup.
The D100 Super will ship in August with a standard 18-55mm lens, but it’ll also be compatible with Pentax’s SDM lenses. At $599.95, this could be a great first DSLR for aspiring photogs–but of course, the proof is in the testing! Watch for our review closer to ship time at PCMag.com.
