We can all be thankful that artist Chris Roberts-Antieau walked out of her first art-school class because the teacher told her she couldn’t draw. After that Roberts-Antieau found inspiration from her son’s raw, child-like drawings and began to apply that same eye to her own art. This fabric painting “Count Your Blessings” is a whimsical and dazzling example of her vision and talent. With meticulous attention to detail, Roberts-Antieau stitches and assembles a colorful line of characters who are thankful for such things as family
health, family, fun, kindness and forgiveness. The quilt-like collage of richly hued, patterned fabrics looks stunning behind the glass and hand-painted frame. This original folk artwork is reminder to find joy in life and to never take it so seriously. Handmade in Michigan.
