A Great Summary of the RIM-NTP Legal Battle

It’s almost three years to the day when Everyone Sick of BlackBerry Patent Battle was published. Yet it still provides a great summary of one the more high-profile legal and technological cases in recent history:

Three years ago [2002], a jury decided against the maker of the wireless e-mail device, Research In Motion Ltd., but Spencer held off on an injunction that threatened to shut down BlackBerry service in this country. Now the suit — along with its 40-page docket — is back in his courtroom after a round of appeals.

This time, the judge is clearly running low on patience.

Turns out NTP, painted as a patent troll for suing RIM, even though it did not contribute to the BlackBerry’s success, was somewhat undeserved. Read the full article to see why.
